A Lebanon doctor was sentenced on Thursday, after being convicted of sexually abusing minors for the second time, according to a release.
Samuel Rashid, who practiced at Lebanon Valley Family Medicine, was sentenced to serve eight months to two years in the Lebanon County Correctional Facility, the Lebanon County District Attorney's Office announced. He will also have to serve five years of consecutive probation after his conviction and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
This most recent conviction was in connection with a 2024 investigation.
He was previously convicted of sexually abusing a mixture of adults and children following an investigation from 2010 to 2015, the release noted. After his first convictions, Rashid was ordered to surrender his medical license and register as a sex offender.
After further investigation, officials determined that Rashid had abused at least two more children between 2000 and 2005, the attorney's office confirmed.
The victims, now adults, told the court about the harm his abuse had caused them.
To date, the court said more than 30 individuals claimed they were abused by Rashid, but most of the allegations fell outside the statute of limitations.
Rashid is scheduled to appear back in court on April 7, 2026, where the court will determine whether Rashid should be considered a sexually violent predator.
District Attorney Pier Hess Graf released a statement, thanking the jury for the guilty verdict:
"This Defendant perpetrated the most heinous types of abuse, against women and children, while holding a position of trust as a licensed medical doctor. He violated his medical oath as well as scores of women. He’s earned his lifetime Megan’s Law registration and the label ‘sexually violent predator.’ We are grateful to the jury for its verdict, the victims for their bravery, and to Senior Deputy Amy Muller for her diligent efforts in holding the Defendant accountable."

Dignity4Patients Commentary: A Doctor's role within the healthcare setting is to protect patients and uphold their duty of care. When a patient enters a medical office, they expect that their wellbeing will be prioritized. This trust is magnified in the case of children and vulnerable adults. To exploit that trust is not only a individual moral failure personal failing, but a systemic one if it goes unchecked.
