By Huta Ata - Gulf News - 08.08.2025 - [Kuwait] An Egyptian anesthesiologist working at a government hospital in Kuwait has been sentenced to seven years in prison with hard labour for assaulting an unconscious patient. The doctor will be deported after serving his term, the Criminal Court ruled yesterday.
Presided over by Judge Al Duwaihi Mubarak Al Duwaihi, the court found the doctor guilty of sexually harassing a female patient while she was under anaesthesia.
The ruling followed a detailed examination of evidence that included the patient’s formal complaint, witness testimonies, criminal investigation findings, and the defendant’s own confession.
According to case records, the incident occurred inside the operating room, where the doctor exploited the patient’s sedated state to commit the assault. After her discharge from the hospital, he contacted her by phone, making flirtatious remarks and offering to provide painkillers if she reached out to him.
The Public Prosecution charged him with committing an indecent act by abusing his position as a medical professional, emphasising the breach of trust and the gravity of the offense.
