Doctor jailed for 30 years for filming women and children

By JUTA Medical Breif- 17/12/2025- [Michigan, USA]- [Oumair Aejaz]

A former Michigan doctor is headed to prison for 31 counts of sexual misconduct, receiving a sentence last week of 35-60 years behind bars.

Oumair Aejaz (41) had pleaded no contest in October – a no contest plea being one where the defendant does not admit guilt but admits the state has enough evidence to secure a conviction, reports WILX10.

In August 2024, Aejaz’s wife told police that he had been secretly recording her, their underage children, and female relatives inside their home. She had also found recordings of people undressing at the Goldfish Swim School.

Police said the recordings included mothers and children.

Aejaz was convicted of:

• nine counts of Capturing/Distributing an Image of an Unclothed Person;

• two counts of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct;

• three counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct;

• four counts of Child Sexually Abusive Commercial Activity; and

• 13 counts of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime

If you have been affected by any of the issues raised in this article and were abused in state run medical and health facilities, you can contact Dignity4Patients, whose helpline is open Monday to Thursday, 10am to 4pm.

Dignity4Patients Commentary: Patients often enter a doctor's clinic in a vulnerable state, naturally placing trust in the perceived authority of healthcare professionals. While this trust is crucial for effective care, it can become dangerous when misplaced. It is the doctor's duty to adhere to their duty of care and protect the safety and wellbeing of their patients.
